then i made a bird's nest... a true southern delicacy!! mashed potatoes with garden peas in the middle (where the gravy would normally go...)
some of you may know, i'm a mashed potato connoisseur (that's the 2nd word today that i've googled to ensure correct spelling and butchered it soooo bad... google couldn't say "did you mean...")... most of my highly tuned taste buds for the smashed taters can be attributed to granny tarboro's mashed potatoes... they are the ones by which all others are measured.

well, recently on a grocery run, i saw ore-ida's steam & mash potatoes where i normally get the hubs french fries... and they were on sale... so i thought i'd give 'em a try!
on a scale of 1-10... 1 being terrible imitation flakes... and 10 being granny t's... i'd give these an 8.5... just pop the bag in the microwave for 10 mins... dump it in a bowl, add milk & butter (and a little salt & pepper), then mash... TA-DA! its REAL mashed potatoes without all the trouble! :)
one more night of successful pantry creations under my belt...
now if i could only get nershi to stop being so whiny tonite... i'm not sure what his deal is... maybe its because he didn't get a drop of bacon grease in his food tonite (yes, that's all i put in there last night was a drop...) i guess he'll learn the hard way that was a RARE treat...
