dealer forum in utah

i won't bore you with all the pictures, but this week i had a long trip (longer than it should've been) to utah.
::
we were out there with liberty safes, a brand of home gun safe/vault that we carry at the store... we were able to actually try out the competition and test the performance--instead of just reading the labels printed on the safe or trusting the brochures...
::
VERY COOL... let me elaborate.
::
liberty tested (at an independent laboratory) their fire proof safes with other "competitors" (i put this word in parentheses because there are numerous safes out there that will TELL you they're fire rated, but are not considered to be the quality that these three are...well, supposed to be)
the above picture is before a simulated 75 minute house fire. with papers, guns & MONEY in each one... the two competitors are on the right, the first one has $1 in it... the second one (the middle) has $2... and the liberty on the left has 97 $1 bills in it... notice the "ropes" on the inside trailing out--these are thermocouplers that monitor the interior temperature of the safe on the computer seen below.what do you do for 75 minutes while 3 safes are "baking" at 1200 degrees?!

you take silly pictures with your dad :)

above is a picture of the safes after the test and below is a video of the safes once they'd removed them from the furnace to open them up and see what the inside looked like...

(again, i'm trying not to bore you with business stuff, but i think this is super cool)... and for the record, there was $97 retrieved from one safe :) and i have 2 of them... they stink... they smell like smoke but they SURVIVED! how cool! everything inside the liberty was fine, but the two other guys were gone--one was crispy and the other was burnt really bad--the 2nd one had flamed up a bit, but nothing inside survived.... i think i know which one i want my stuff in :)
::
THEN... we went back to the factory, and they gave us a chance to try to break in a competitors safe... and a liberty safe...
::
...now you may recognize the FIRST GIRL to ever try the attempted break-in at their factory...

first i kung-fu kicked it to the ground so we could start pryin' on that baby... the clock's a tickin'!
me and my partner hackin' away on it...

TA-DA!
high five for teamwork!! :)
oh...and that girl you recognize? she's the FIRST GIRL to ever SUCCESSFULLY GET IN!! ...and a little bird told me she did it in 4 mins. and 38 seconds... BOO YAH!
...below is the damage... (word to the wise, don't buy a safe a dicks, k?)

That was too cool. I need to find things like that to go to. I always wanted to know what happens when they catch fire. I know the things I think about. We have a small fire proof safe and I would like to hope it works!! Looks like you had a great time!
