grocery shopping

since the addition of our garage feezer, grocery shopping has taken on a whole new meaning!

we are now able to do 80% of our shopping at costco...this allows us to not only save quite a bit of money, but i get to use the "bulk" products to make various dishes and freeze them! the only things i now have to pick up at food lion are like fresh veggies and the occasional gallon of milk to hold me over until our next trip to costco!

not only do they have good frozen stuff...but they have lots of fresh meat, seafood, fruit, etc...and of course i get to buy a bagillion rolls of toilet paper (its a hopkins thing, right kimberlee??) ...even though its bulk, most of the products are packaged individually so you can still keep it fresh!

since i've orgainzed the whole house since new years, this allows me to use my "organizational skills" to plan meals and dishes in advance!

once i got back in town from the shot show, i didn't really have time to grocery shop before the "blizzard stampede", so we survived the snow on homemade soup and lasagna that i'd made and frozen a few months ago! yum! no milk for snow cream, but we did clean out some of the goodies in the freezer!

this trip to costco was extra special because lee went with me!! they have so many things our local grocery store doesn't offer, i wanted him to go with me so he could pick things out for us to try...and so he could get things he likes to eat for lunch! he picked up lots of things...fig newtons, goldfish crackers, and chocolate soymilk (eek)...and the x-files movie....wait a minute--he can't eat that for lunch! :)

somehow i knew he'd want to go with me to costco...last time i went i called home while i was there and asked him if any of the movies they had were on his "list"...i had planted the seed...

so, all in all...we're back from another successful trip and i've got a whole house full of possibilities for dinner! ....and what do ya know? nershi even got some goodies! :)
