e's dresser

dad and i went to big cit-ayyy last night to pick up e's dresser... however, it remained unloaded and unboxed until this morning (hubs had to work late last night)

so, TA-DA!!!!!!
i haven't put the knobs on yet... because mom brought a nifty idea to the table... the changing table, if you will (arg, arg!!)... cute decorative knobs!! ....oooh.... got my wheels turnin'

and just to show you that carrying the plank of crib wasn't in vain... check out the match on this stain...

you'd never know this stuff wasn't the same brand...

i'm in love with my purchase!

...and just because this blog is in part for my own documentation... there's a bit of a bargain story behind this dresser, too!

when i originally went to pick it out, the saleslady nicely told me this stuff never goes on sale, but they do offer coupons from time to time on "your next purchase"...and the day i was in happened to be the last day they were giving out one of these particular coupons--and the coupon could be used beginning the next day...

....hmm... ok? what's that mean to me? ...well, they offer a 30 day price guarantee on furniture and i could come back the next day (or during the coupon's time limit) with the coupon, my credit card, and the receipt and they'd refund me the 20%...

oh! ok... i'll take it! (because we all know how fantastic i am about mailing in a rebate, or following through with that type of "money in your pocket" transaction!)

so, she wrote me up at the counter in the furniture section, with the magic cash register code and my information and the price.... more specifically the incorrect price (MUUUCH cheaper)...

[engage dumb blonde baby-brain]

walk up to the cash register... and let the lady know that my ticket had a different price than the register was ringing up...

"oh! i'm sorry! let me fix that!" [followed by pecks and strokes of her keyboard] "there we go! is that better?"

"yes, ma'am...sorry to be a bother!"

"not a problem--and don't forget to bring your receipt back with the coupon and your card for the extra 20% off when you come pick it up!"

"sure thing!" ...i left... smilin' alllll the way back home!

so, back to the last night... walked in with a 3 necessities to take advantage of my promotion... and they were most helpful in refunding 20 %.... OF THE ORIGINAL PRICE!!!! oh. my. goodness!

i was expecting to get 80 bucks or so back... but nope, got $115... CA-CHING!

that's the sorta stuff that'll put a little pep in your step! now, just as a disclosure... i'd like to mention that i've also been the victim of this process when it was NOT in my favor... and i've been in line behind people that got to take advantage of things like this... but nope, never me. and i do not feel at a big store such as this, it would even matter to any employee or manager... but i would've felt differently if it'd been at a family shop... but it wasn't... so i will enjoy this small victory entirely...

so, yes, as i told you earlier--i spent a little more on this than i'd anticipated... but with over $200 in savings (the difference of what i SHOULD'VE paid to begin minus the coupon...with and what i ended up paying)... i nearly spent what i'd budgeted in the first place! yippeeee!!

the big white tree decal should be here tomorrow... of course, we won't hang that until the room's been painted... and hopefully the chair & ottoman should be arriving soon! :-D
