with that being said--i'm calling it a pop quiz from professor nershi... he teaches us oh-so-much about the fundamentals of parenting... here's a story for you from last night :)
once biggest loser went off, i flipped over to "the good wife" (lee was ready to go to bed, so i watched it by myself and he was in the bedroom watching something...how i met your mother on dvd or something...)
**side note, "the good wife" was GREAT! they're re-airing the first episode saturday at 9pm, if you missed it... its one of those shows that you'll have to watch every episode to really understand whats going on... ok, back to the story...
once the show was over, i locked all the doors and kept calling nershi to go out and potty... and he wasn't coming... which didn't surprise me... he was in the bedroom on the bed watching tv with lee... so, i walked in there to coax him outside, but he wasn't in there... where's the dog?
went back in the living room, checked the bathroom, went upstairs to see if he was in the guest bed... all the usual places & a few that i would predict he'd go... nope. nowhere.
i went back in the bedroom & lee decided to get up and help me look for him... i checked outside to see if he'd been left out there and we just closed the door after the last time we let him out (no, we don't abandon him out there... he just LOVES to sit on the deck and quietly watch people walk by, or play with his toys when the weather is nice)...
lee started to walk towards the laundry room to see if he was playing out in the garage (we've gone out there before for a quick tool or his dog food or something out of the freezer and he'll stay out there)... what does he find?!
the door was cracked...
and the garage door open...
nershi was gone... we called him... no answer...
i cranked the car...thinking he'd either run back after hearing the car crank, thinking we were leaving... or to cruise the neighborhood... lee and i started to panic.
panicking not because we'd thought he'd run away--the dog has it made. seriously. but, panicking more because if something had happened WHILE he was out... (car, etc...)
so lee walked to the right (the way to go around the front of the house), and i drove to the left...
i make the LOOOOOOOOOOONGEST drive around the block ever... radio off, windows down, calling my sweet pooch...
nothing.
as i pull in the driveway to come up with a better game plan, lee's waving at me from the fence...
HE'D FOUND HIM!
where was he?
sitting on our front porch, just staring at the stars.
goober. (nershi or me? i'll leave that part up to you)
...now that you know the whole story & that everyone is ok, you may be wondering WHY was our door open with the garage door open?!
no, we did not decide to voluntarily air-condition the whole neighborhood last night...
we had dinner last night with michael & kimberlee for sushi... and lee met us there after work and i drove there when i got off work... so, we seperately drove home from the same place :)
well, he was literally 300 yards behind me when i walked in the door last night... so i left the garage door open... then when i walked in the door it doesn't close all the way when we have the laundry room door closed (the one from the laundry room to the kitchen--we keep it closed while we're away because nershi's treats are in the laundry room)...you know that vacuum effect thing... anyway, again--i wasn't too worried about slamming it since lee was right behind me...
so, i came on in... let nershi out... lee pulls in the driveway and greets his wife & pup at the fence and comes on in the house! ...ugh... the road less traveled, if you will... not the path i'd cleared for him (open garage, open door)...
