pantry concoctions...

i'm making an effort to clean out my pantry and freezer... the economical way... not just chunking it in the trash, but trying to CREATE!! sometimes the combinations are...well...interesting :)

why you ask? well, friday night (i think?) the freezer got "unplugged" when the surge protector it was plugged in got turned off...fortunately, i realized it the next morning when i went to work...so everything was VERY COLD...but some of the stuff wasn't frozen anymore... so, i'm using it NOW! ...and i'm just tired of going to the grocery store this week... its just a mood... i did get my honey some milk today... its a must at this house!! you just can go from 3 gallons/week to NOTHING! :)

yesterday we had salmon cakes, general tso's shrimp (sauteed...not fried), brussel sprouts, & corn on the cob! (i also chopped up what was left of a head of lettuce--but didn't have any other fun salad stuff...lettuce and dressing is BORING!)

tonite we had pork chops with a DELICIOUS marinade** (see below) then i made crescent rolls, and broccoli au gratin (rice a roni) and threw the rest of a bag of frozen broccoli!! :)... for dessert, i did another batch of crescent rolls....BUT i rolled them in cinnamon & sugar and baked them with the dinner crescent rolls...DE-LISH! (yes mom--even without the ICING!!) :)

...ah-hem... you may notice my small "sampling" in the top left corner... :) just had to make sure they were at the very least EDIBLE!

now, the marinade for the chops? general tso's sauce (yea, i used it last night, too), honey, ground ginger powder, soy sauce, a few red pepper flakes, and what was left of a jar of hoisin sauce

...i'm thinking i really out did myself tonite... tomorrow will be disappointing i'm sure!
